Summary

AI/ML and full-stack engineer with 16 years delivering DoD and government systems, including hands-on prototyping of deep-learning models across image, text, and time-series data. I’ve led interdisciplinary teams through enterprise efforts, including an on-premises-to-AWS cloud migration.

Experience

March 2021 – present

Lead Full-Stack Software Engineer

Two Six Technologies

  • Researching generative models (GANs, diffusion) to forecast the distribution of unplanned, ad-hoc task arrivals, sizing schedule buffers that minimize displacement of planned work.
  • Solution lead for a government foundation-model (LLM / GenAI) proposal on an interdisciplinary team; reviewed current research and synthesized cross-functional input into a unified architecture and integration strategy.
  • Built a proof-of-concept applying diffusion models to flight-trajectory prediction, demonstrating a novel generative approach to spatiotemporal forecasting.
  • Developed an R&D object-detection and image-classification prototype using supervised deep learning (convolutional neural networks) with OpenCV and Tesseract preprocessing, evaluating feasibility for document-analysis workflows.
  • Architected a scalable, resilient cross-domain messaging system on AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, S3, REST API).
  • Implemented an event-driven real-time visualization framework using Angular 14, Spring Boot, WebSockets/STOMP, Apache Ignite, and Protobuf.
  • Modernized a legacy Ruby application to AWS serverless Python; authored Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and Git-based AWS CodeBuild and CodePipeline for CI/CD; migrated Cassandra (DataStax) to PostgreSQL with Elasticsearch indexing.

October 2020 – March 2021

Full-Stack Software Engineer

Jacobs

  • Decomposed a monolithic system into containerized microservices (Docker, Spring Boot, Angular 10, Logstash) deployed to Kubernetes / OpenShift on AWS (EC2, RDS PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch).
  • Built with the Angular CLI, npm, Maven, and Helm charts.

August 2017 – October 2020

Software Engineer, Technical Lead

U.S. Marine Corps, Manpower & Reserve Affairs

  • Led architecture, security, deployment, and sustainment of 56 Java EE web applications supporting DoD and congressional mandates.
  • Planned and executed an on-premises datacenter migration to AWS IL4; earned Authority to Operate (ATO) under DoD STIGs at Impact Level 4 (PII / PHI).
  • Led a cross-functional team of government, military, and contractor personnel; briefed leadership on initiatives, cost estimates, and technical roadmaps.
  • Established enterprise software standards and DevOps practices; identified and remediated vulnerabilities to maintain ATO compliance.
  • Designed and built shared microservices for other web applications to use.
  • Reviewed proposals for RFPs and provided technical justification for source selections.

February 2017 – July 2017

Database Administrator (Contract)

Tiburon

  • Optimized PostgreSQL storage and queries; authored SQL to answer stakeholder data requests.
  • Supported the migration to new technologies.

August 2012 – February 2017

Full-Stack Java Software Developer

U.S. Marine Corps, Manpower & Reserve Affairs

  • Architected, built, and deployed enterprise Java EE applications supporting the Manpower & Reserve Affairs mission; sustained, reviewed, and fixed existing Java EE applications.

Notable applications

Exceptional Family Member Program
Tracks a service member’s request for, and enrollment in, the DoD program for dependents with special medical needs.
Wounded, Ill & Injured Tracking System
Tracks the care and support of wounded Marines.
Service Treatment Records
Converted hard-copy service treatment records to searchable PDFs through an automated scanning process.
Command Profile
Hierarchical roll-ups of data points for every USMC unit, used heavily by the fleet to compare training completion and irregular-warfare skill sets across battalions and MEFs. Angular and REST.
Marine Profile
Role-based access to more than 200 data points, such as PFT/CFT scores and end of active service, for any Marine in the Marine Corps. Angular and REST.

June 2010 – July 2012

Data Analyst (Data Warehouse), Task Lead

SAIC

  • Analyzed and recommended new data cubes so business users could get enterprise-level information on their own.
  • Answered Marine Corps manpower data requests using the IBM Cognos BI suite and direct SQL queries.
  • Worked with the systems engineer and DBA to optimize the flow of information from source systems to the Cognos front end.
  • Worked with stakeholders to determine report design and feasibility.
  • Built and maintained a C# .NET website.
